+ During the 80's, a distinctive band of surfers from Newport Beach, California made the stretch of beach between 52nd and 56th street an entire universe of 80's cool. These Day-Gold surfers singlehandedly demolished the laid-back 70's style with a loud blast of Devo and attitude. Local photographer Mike Moir captured the group's adventures in and out of the water and his work ignited a counter culture that grew into the 80's as we know them
