Denim with a soul. If you’ve seen
Union’s jeans on the street or on a friend, there’s no mistaking them. Best known for its unique, deconstructed stitching, as well as asymmetrical pocket designs,
Union’s jeans feature perfectly-fitting, comfortable denim made in the U.S.A. that represent the intersection of chic, high-fashion with a rock and roll edge. Formerly a denim-only line,
Union has expanded its portfolio to include a unique line of trousers, coats, skirts and a variety of basics tees.
In 1973, lead designer Silvio began his relationship with denim when his mother returned from a trip to the US with two pairs of Levis’ Orange Tab 517 zipper fly and 501 Button Fly jeans that were rigid enough to stand up on their own. These jeans served as the first two pieces of an extensive collection of denim that continues to inspire Silvio today. Fueled with an insatiable curiosity and armed with the expertise of a skilled tailor – his mother – Silvio began to design jeans in his teenage years. In fact, early experiments with stone-washed denim ruined his mother’s washing machine.
After studying in Italy, Silvio came to the US and worked with some of the top denim designers, including Adriano Goldschimied and Jeff Yokoyama. After more than 20 years in the industry, Silvio happily landed at
Union designing a unique line of denim. “Denim has a soul, a lifetime of growth and development that begins in the design room, but does not end there. The fabric develops qualities and character over time that reflect those customers. This is the key to success at
Union. It is about understanding the customer, and developing product that has the integrity and detail I expect, but integrates seamlessly with the lifestyle of those to wear it. Two souls functioning as one.”
