Artist/curator Ian Kennedy, owner and founder of the accessories and home décor brand Ruby + George, has been making and collecting jewelry and art all his life, first when he was working with his Grandmother Ruby in the Native American Indian Antique Shop that she and his Grandfather owned and ran until her passing in 1990. Kennedy also learned to love collecting and creating jewelry from his Grandfather George, who first taught Ian how to bead on a loom around age 9 and how to solder and finish gold and silver at 21.
After achieving a Fine Art degree in Photography, Ian Kennedy returned to his rural Southwestern American plains roots and continued to apprentice in his family's business under Grandfather George. Kennedy believes that he honors his Grandmother Ruby as he collects his vintage finds for Ruby + George as it is from her that he says he inherited an eye for quality and beauty in items.
Inspired by his family's love of the American West and their appreciation of its culture, history, and art, Kennedy collects and sells vintage Native American jewelry and other accessories. Ruby and George pieces are defined by beautiful natural turquoise and coral, onyx and other stones most often set in sterling silver. They feature fine craftsmanship and are stunning examples of the refined work of Zuni and Navajo jewelers, among others. Ian certainly has an eye for quality and is able to offer the best of the best when it comes to vintage jewelry of the American West from as far back as the 1920s.
Ian Kennedy seeks fashionable treasures and an eclectic mix of items to adorn your modern lifestyle- ingredients for a rich experience and beautiful life. Check out beautiful pieces like the Turquoise Cluster Bracelet, Lapis Lazuli Bracelet, Zuni Thunderbird Ring, Silver Saucer Bead Necklace, and - perhaps most stunning of all - the very old Coral Squash Blossom Necklace.
