Kasil denim designer David Lim sees his job as an art, referring to his work as “painting with denim.” Art or not, how does one stand out in the over-saturated world of premium denim? To begin with, David Lim sources the highest quality denim from mills in the U.S., Italy, Canada, and Japan. All production and manufacturing, however, takes place in the U.S., where all pre-production samples are created 100% by hand. Using custom washes, hand abrasion, and other unique techniques (such as the signature “K-gold” thread that David Lim developed for the line), each jean comes out as one-of-a-kind. Top-of-the-line treatments aside,
Kasil is probably best known for its back pocket accents, which include a subtle “v” that often features contrasting fabric like plaid cotton, and even leather. This back pocket styling evolves each season, while one element always remains the same—the signature falcon logo, which is on the right pocket of all the jeans. According to the designer, this signature logo is inspired by the strength of the falcon and its ability to take flight and embrace the feeling of solitude while being at one with nature.
