J Brand

J Brand set out to create timeless, classic and sophisticated jeans with an emphasis on fit and the inspiration to make a woman look and feel beautiful in her jeans. Following this mission, J Brand has achieved a winning combination of style and comfort, and is known throughout the fashion industry as a go-to brand for classic, well-fitting denim without unnecssary embellishment and a clean look.  Massively popular among consumers, celebrities, and fashion editors alike, it was J Brand’s position as the first label to introduce and drive the dark wash skinny jean that helped propel this famous brand into the spotlight.

Jeff Rudes, founder and CEO, launched J Brand in 2004 with a vision to create a jean that fit so perfectly it would follow the contours of the body. He launched the brand as an exclusive line at Ron Herman's Melrose jean bar in Spring 2005.   Having worked in denim since the 1970s, Jeff Rudes was already an industry veteran who had the cache and know-how to deliver upon exactly what the market was looking for.

With the introduction of the dark-washed skinny jean in 2005, J Brand was the first company to impact the global market and drive this trend to its current popularity.  Now a mainstay in fashion above and beyond the trend it initially was, the skinny jean remains to be the fit J Brand is best known for.  In Fall 2008, J Brand introduced a men's line also embodying their signature modern classics but this time with a masculine sensibility.

In Spring 2012, J Brand introduced a ready-to-wear collection designed with luxurious contrasting fabrics while continuing the simplistic attention to detail and sensibility of the brand.   Pairing perfectly with the denim collection, J Brand’s tees, blouses and outerwear fit seamlessly into the J Brand aesthetic.

Remaining authentic and true to the customer while delivering inventive designs, J Brand continues to be an industry leader in the fashion world. The breadth of the brand also includes past collaborations with such designers as Proenza Schouler and Christopher Kane.  While J Brand will always have their signature dark skinny jean, the company’s founder is intent on keeping J Brand on the cutting edge, always first in line to deliver the next big trend.
